During the recent Ft. Lauderdale International Boat Show, Hampton Yachts and Anchor Yacht Sales, Hampton’s Florida dealer, exhibited the new Endurance 686 Skylounge to high acclaim.
Among the many admirers was Robert Paddingham, a representative for the prestigious International Yacht & Aviation Awards committee, headquartered in London, England. He was so impressed with the design, fit and finish of the Endurance 686 Skylounge, he wrote a personal note encouraging Hampton Yachts to submit it for entry in the 2015 IY&A Awards.
What followed was a month of hyper-activity. There was still yacht commissioning to be completed and the proud owners had made plans for an introductory shakedown cruise – plans that could not be changed. However, somewhere in all this activity we needed to photograph the interior, not only for advertising and marketing purposes, but also a requirement for the IY&A Awards submission.
Through the efforts of Capt. Forest and Sandy Roberts of Anchor Yacht Sales, a window of opportunity was created and photographer Jim Raycroft was able to reschedule his assignments to fly down to Ft. Lauderdale to shoot the interior photos.
With photography in hand, we were able to submit our Design Awards Submission just before Christmas. And early in the New Year, Hampton Yachts received word that the Endurance 686 Skylounge was shortlisted for the 2015 International Yacht & Aviation Awards.

But the story doesn’t end there. Due to the delay in photography, we approached Robert Paddingham with an alternative. Would he consider the new Hampton 830 Euro Motor Yacht as a substitute?
The answer was that he couldn’t, as it fell into another category, but he would be happy to accept it on it’s own merit.
And it too, was shortlisted!
We’ve got our fingers firmly crossed to see if either of these exceptional yachts win the coveted International Design Award in their categories. But we’ll have to wait until May, when the Awards are announced in Venice, Italy.
