Leigh-Smith Yachts has a new three-cabin 49ft Alaska Sedan, the latest edition to the popular motorcruiser line-up, proudly on show at the 2016 Sydney International Boat Show from July 28-August 1.
The 49ft sedan is said to reach a top speed of 25-26 knots with economical 480hp Cummins QSB6.7 diesel engines and relaxed cruising at 20 knots. Side Power bow and stern thrusters and a concealed wing station with engine controls make docking a breeze.
At rest, the extended aft deck with in-built hot shower, and Corian-topped amenities unit plus sink, fridge, icemaker and so on, all serve the alfresco dining area, which is big enough for eight.
The stainless opening rear bulkhead ushers you inside the new saloon layout, with aft lounges and an entertainment centre. The loaded upmarket galley is forward on a quasi pilothouse level, while dual side doors adjacent to the helm assist short-handed docking and crew access.
A comprehensive Raymarine E165 electronics package has been chosen for coastal navigation — GPS, radar, VHF, and autopilot — while big windows assist vision, and a Muir windlass keeps you on the ‘hook’ at night.
“We wanted to achieve a three-cabin layout in our sedan vessel that could accommodate two couples and two kids or five fisherman, making her a boat for every occasion and a multitude of scenarios,” explains Ryan Leigh-Smith.
The bow has a convertible double that splits into two single berths, amidships is a generous Queen bed with an en suite, while the third cabin aft is ideal for children.
The new Alaska 49 three-cabin version has been designed for an extended family and is pitched as just the perfect floating holiday house. Price is around $1.2m. More from Leigh-Smith Yachts
